Paynter Dixon has continued to support the growth of Maitland Christian School with the design and construction of a three-storey, multi-purpose building.
The new Resource Centre comprises a drama room, gymnasium, library and six classrooms with breakout areas.
Classroom and breakout areas are spatially designed to support flexible modes of learning. Explicit teaching direction occurs in anchored spaces, while breakout areas encourage self-motivated learning, creativity and collaboration.
Located deep within the school’s campus, access to the construction site was led by a detailed traffic management plan.
Construction activities were also carried out during school operational hours. Meticulous planning, communication and coordination of site works were key to minimising disruption to the surrounding campus.
Celebrating it’s 40th anniversary in 2023, the school embraces a strength-based approach to education with a focus on the specific individual needs of students.
Working in close partnership, Paynter Dixon was initially engaged to prepare a master plan for the growing school. This led to the delivery of Arise Christian College, which supports students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.
