Exceptional stakeholder communication and risk management were crucial factors to the removal and replacement of non-compliant cladding in World Square.
Our Tier-1 Remedial division oversaw the cladding works to three high-rise buildings and a cooling tower within the most densely populated precinct in Australia.
To obtain the permits and access to air space in which to operate, our team managed multiple commercial and retail building co-owners, taking into consideration their individual needs and concerns.
High risk works at height comprised rope access, swing stages, and bespoke solutions to access challenging facades. This drove innovation and best practice in safety management, including:
- High risk works prestarts. Hosted by our Site Managers, the daily process went beyond a technial briefing to ensure all workers were mentally engaged and mindful of safety. Every prestart was photographed for visual documentation to demonstrate compliance.
- 90 minute observations. Our Site Managers physically observed and monitored workers on site every 90 minutes with supporting photographic evidence.
- Inductions. A replica swing stage and tethering board were assembed on site for the purpose of inducting workers. This hands-on approach covered the minutiae of worker actions, such as correctly tethering personal items.
- Hanging scaffolding. Located 16 storeys above street level, the enclosed ‘Skybridge’ spanned two building facades. This bespoke engineering solution enabled workers to perform their tasks without harneseses, promoting free and confident movement.
Through rotating day and night shifts, our team maintained accurate and timely updates to stakeholders, including the client, building managers and workers on site. In doing so, prioritising safety and quality in a high-rise envrionment, around the clock.
