Cerebral Palsy Alliance Centre Heritage Refurbishment

A design and construct heritage restoration.

Long-term client, the Cerebral Palsy Alliance turned to Paynter Dixon to assist with refurbishing its new Hunter Valley headquarters – the heritage-listed East Maitland Post Office.

The empty building was a suitable location for the Alliance, but it required a major refurbishment, sympathetic to its heritage listing.

Paynter Dixon compiled a dilapidation report and feasibility assessment before drafting a scope of works and budget.

With funding approved, Paynter Dixon then completed the design and engaged a heritage architect to ensure all work met heritage regulations.

Work also included assessment and rectification of the stormwater drainage system.

After completing internal works, the Paynter Dixon team restored and painted the building façade.

The building is now a functional space, allowing the Cerebral Palsy Alliance to get on with its essential work of serving the community.

The restored building has also turned the clock back to its heyday.

This project is a good example of assisting a client manage the complexity of a heritage-listed building restoration.
