A design and construct project, including the management of heritage issues.

Avondale Golf Club is one of Australia’s most prestigious clubs set in a picturesque bushland setting on Sydney’s North Shore.

Given its location, the Club is a popular wedding and function venue.

The Club engaged Paynter Dixon to design and construct a significant upgrade of its facilities, including a new kitchen, refurbishment of the dining room and other building improvements.

The project objective was to increase function capacity.

As the building is heritage listed, the design and construction included some challenges.

One of those was incorporating an existing chimney.

Paynter Dixon devised an innovative solution – maintaining the chimney above the roof while demolishing the section below to allow for the new design.

The project required flexibility, with changes to the scope of work, including additions, extensions, and revised finishes.
