Atrium building shaped by creativity and commitment
From school studies to construction, there are times when burning the midnight oil is crucial to completing work on time. In delivering the Atrium Building for Norwest Christian College, our team had to carefully navigate a pathway through the peak of COVID.
“We had six weeks taken out of our program, which made it a massive effort to finish the project on time and in start of the academic year,” recalls Executive General Manager, Matthew Greene.
“I’m appreciative of Paynter Dixon’s commitment to us,” says Principal of Norwest Christian College, Felicity Marlow.
“I can think back to the project manager and site manager being here on site at 2.30 am on 31 January. We then moved students in at 8.30 am on that same morning.”
The trust between Paynter Dixon and the College matters most.
“Creativity and commitment are two words that stand out for me,” says Felicity. “I know I can always pick up the phone and speak with Matthew – and any of the team – and they’ll sort things out for us.”
The building comprises eight studio classrooms, three science labs, 150-seat lecture theatre and a two-storey atrium with learning stair. “It’s such a beautiful and calm place – everybody enjoys being here, and students can find their niche or corner to study in,” says Felicity.
“Our Building Purposeful Lives framework is around students growing as learners. The phrase we use a lot here is ‘pilots of their own learning’.
“Paynter Dixon delivered on quality, but also met us at our need. I’m really grateful they pushed us to think creatively, because I can see the outcomes for students and we have everything we needed.”
