An award-winning new club project in the heart of Parramatta.
Club Parramatta, formerly the Parramatta RSL, is located on an historic site in the heart of Sydney’s second CBD.
It overlooks the World Heritage-listed Parramatta Park and is just minutes from Bankwest Stadium, Westmead Hospital and Parramatta Station.
The owners of the club, Castle Hill RSL Group (CHRL) took the bold step to build a modern new entertainment venue on this iconic site.
CHRL group engaged Paynter Dixon to build the new club, first established back in 1947, on the corner of Macquarie and O’Connell Streets.
Given the historic nature of the site, painstaking excavation under the supervision of an archaeologist, was undertaken ensuring all historic and aboriginal artefacts were recorded and preserved.
Construction work included the demolition of the existing bowling greens to make way for the new club.
The new building, over 3 levels, offers a variety of dining experiences with 3 main kitchens and 3 bars. It has a child’s play area, multipurpose functions and event spaces, outdoor and open-air areas as well as extensive indoor and outdoor gaming facilities.
The project also included a new basement car park.
Construction took place at a busy intersection which required careful management.
The project won a Merit Award at the 2020 Master Builders Association Excellence in Construction Awards.
