Deicorp developed the Petersham Precinct on land purchased from Petersham RSL. As part of the agreement, the property developer committed to building a new club venue for the RSL.
Paynter Dixon was appointed to oversee the fit out of the new RSL which features restaurants, indoor and outdoor gaming lounges, an auditorium and day spa.
Patrons enter an elegant marble foyer, before venturing further into a stylish interior environment that impresses with the use of premium and imported materials, from hand-pressed mosaic tiles to velvet and suede finishes.
The main bar is adjacent to a glazed skylight courtyard, harnessing natural light and space. Outside, the building’s façade features an ANZAC-inspired mural in laser-cut aluminium.
Overcoming challenges
Our delivery team conducted the fit out of the 4,000 square metre ground floor venue within a multi-storey residential building that was under construction above. Resourceful and diligent, the team responded to the accompanying issues of waterproofing, interconnection of services, access and deliveries.
Not without challenges, construction took place during the COVID pandemic. This saw the availability of finishes – including multiple types of stone and tiles – impacted by supply shortages and incomplete overseas orders. Unphased, the team seamlessly sourced alternatives from local suppliers.
Recognition of excellence
The fit out received the award for ‘Construction (Commercial), Interior Fitouts, $8 Million – $10 Million’ at the Master Builders Association of NSW 2023 Excellence in Construction Awards. The award citation noted:
