A little about yourself?
I was born and raised in the Western suburbs of Sydney until the age of 10. I then moved across to the Hills district, where I lived out my teen and young adult years. I now reside in Gladesville with my wife.
I’m into travelling and exploring, watching English Premier League football, the occasional fishing trip and a glass of Scotch. But of course, these habits will all change when I welcome a newborn into the family in August. My new hobby will involve sleeping!
What attracted you to Paynter Dixon?
Career progression and growth were two main attractions. Knowing the business had been around for more than 100 years also speaks volumes.
How important is effective contracts administration to insurance building services?
Contracts administration is extremely important. My role oversees the commercial functions of claims delivery. This includes all aspects of procurement, such as subcontractor negotiation, preparation of cost plans, budget management and ensuring contractual obligations are met.
As a result, I work closely with our project managers to support key stakeholders. This includes the loss adjuster, who is acting on behalf of the insurer and entrusting us to deliver responsive and quality building services. And of course, the policy holder whose life or business has been impacted. We are responsible for the customer experience, and everyone in the delivery team plays their part.
What are the more challenging and rewarding aspects of contracts administration?
There are times when unexpected issues will emerge. Fortunately, I am surrounded by knowledgeable and experienced colleagues who can assist with alleviating these issues when they arise. You’re never acting alone.
Insurance projects are rarely the same and offer the opportunity to work on a variety of unique projects, whether heritage-listed castles, fire-ravaged factories, waterfront mansions and more. The work is diverse which I find appealing.
What do you regard as your core strengths in this line of work?
Communication and attention to detail are core strengths. Anyone who has worked with me knows I love an email!
Which company value best reflects yourself and the team at the moment?
Responsive. The insurance sector is a fast-paced environment, and the team is always ready to respond to any event that presents itself.
